Does pewter tarnish?No. However, over time it will patina, or darken in color. This unique aging is what many people find endearing. Are Crosby & Taylor measuring pieces designed to be used?Both the spoons and cups are designed to be used! They are accurate for both liquids and solids. However, please restrict your usage to scooping and measuring and never use them over any type of heat source. Additionally, we ask you to avoid scooping out hard brown sugar or frozen ice cream. Pewter is soft and these materials could bend your pieces!Back to Top |
Can pewter be put in the dishwasher?For years, our answer to this question was a resounding, YES! Now, however, we feel we must qualify our “yes”. We have a new dishwasher at our house that requires a rinsing agent. This chemical agent changes the look of our spoons and cups. So, if you use such an agent (or if you have hard water) you may prefer to wash your pieces by hand. If not, feel free to put your pieces in the dishwasher. This may speed the darkening process, but will not damage them.Back to Top |
